About Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese therapy for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. When giving a Reiki treatment one applies “laying on of hands” or a light touch. It is based on the idea that unseen life force energy flows through and around you and causes you to be alive.

When ill, injured, or under stress, the flow of energy within your body is obstructed and unbalanced. When healthy, the life force energy flows freely in, through, and out of your body.

The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei denotes Divinely Directed and Ki denotes Universal Life Force Energy. Ki is the Japanese equivalent for the Chinese Chi, or the Hindu Prana. Therefore, Reiki is actually spiritually guided life force energy.

Reiki is more than a touch therapy. As it was originally developed in Japan, it is actually A System of Reiki that has these five elements:
